News: Hiking Fees for the Catskill and Adirondack Forest Preserve?
A member of the New York State Legislature if pushing to put in a fee system for hikers and other users of the Forest Preserve lands in the Catskill and Adirondack Parks.
What do you think? Should there be a fee system for these lands that are protected by the NYS Constitution to be "forever wild" or should the current system of open access continue?
We think any fee system would send fees back to the NYS General Fund and it would be unlikely that the Forest Preserve and the Department of Environmental Conservation that manage, would ever see any extra income from a fee system. No to a fee system.
