Hiking The Roost in Evan's Notch
The Roost is a smaller mountain (1374') that rises above the Wild River and Hastings Campground in Evan's Notch on the New Hampshire/Maine Border. The 2.2 mile hike over The Roost in Evans Notch is a moderately challenging trek that offers stunning views of the White Mountains and can be a loop hike with some road walking.
At only 2.2 miles, the hike is relatively short, making it a great option for those seeking a rewarding but not overly strenuous outing - especially for campers staying at the Hastings Campground or visitors to Evan's Notch who want a short hike. The return trip is a pleasant descent, allowing hikers to soak in more of the natural beauty that defines this lesser-known gem in the White Mountain National Forest.
